How to Download Marshmallow on Galaxy S6 Edge

Prerequisites

  • You have to take a backup of your phone.
  • Make sure that your phone at least 50-60% charged.
  • The method will only work on Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones actually. Do not try it on any other devices.
  • A PC or Laptop.
  • USB drivers for your phone installed on PC as well.

How to Download Marshmallow on Galaxy S6 Edge

Download Odin 3.12.3

  • First, download Odin 3.12.3 .zip file and run or open Odin3 v3.12.3.exe file from the extracted files on your computer.
  • Then download the Marshmallow firmware for your device from the downloads section above. And unzip the .zip file in order to get the . TAR.MD5 file.
  • Turn on OEM unlock on your phone:
    • Head to Settings » About phone » and tap Build number seven times to turn on Developer options.
    • Head back to the main Settings page, and scroll to the bottom, and choose Developer options from there.
    • Now under Developer options, and look for Enable OEM unlock checkbox or toggle and turn it on.
  • Now boot your device into Download Mode:
    • Then switch off your device.
    • Tap and hold the “Home + Power + Volume down” buttons for just a few seconds until you see a warning screen actually.
    • Tap on Volume Up on the warning screen to accept it and boot into Download mode as well.

What’s More

  • When your device is in download mode, then you connect it to the PC along with a USB cable. The Odin window on the PC should detect the device and also show an “Added!!” message.
  • Now tap on the AP tab on the Odin window and choose the firmware file that we got in step 2 above.
    └ Note: DON’T plays with any other options on the Odin screen. You are only needed to connect your device and choose the firmware file as instructed above.
  • Tap on the Start button on Odin and wait for it to finish the process. When it has finished successfully, you’ll then see a pass message on the Odin screen.
  • Your device will now automatically reboot when Odin is done flashing actually. You can then disconnect your device as well.
    └ It might take some time for the first boot after flashing stock firmware as well.
