    • Special rollback firmware [Android 7.0, Open beta 15]
    • Stable build – OxygenOS 4.5.1 [Android 7.0]

Method to roll back OnePlus 3 and 3T from Oreo to Nougat

Although two ways are there for installing Nougat beta rollback firmware on your OnePlus 3/3T running Android 8.0 Oreo. Similarly, both of the ways involve use of the stock recovery, but procedure1 is more convenient if you are on phone and do not have access to a computer.

Procedure 1: Install directly from the phone’s internal storage

  • Firstly, you have to download and transfer the .zip file of the special rollback build to your device’s internal storage (do not put it inside any folder).
  • Now you have to boot your device into recovery mode.
    1. Switch off the phone.
    2. Press and hold the Power + Volume down buttons together. Till you view the recovery screen.
  • Choose the “Install from Local” option.
  • Now choose the rollback firmware’s .zip file you transferred in Step 1 above, and download it.
  •  At the time installation is completed. However, now your phone will automatically reboot into the system. Whether not, so then choose reboot from recovery mode.
  • Now your device will be on Android 7.0. And also everything will have removed. Similarly, now, you are on beta software, and whether you desire to switch to the stable OS. You can install OxygenOS 4.5.1. Although for doing this you have to simply download the OxygenOS 4.5.1 firmware file. And also install it the same method you installed the rollback firmware just above.

Procedure 2: Install from the computer through ADB Sideload

  • Here you should first of all launch the ADB and Fastboot on your computer.
  • Then download the .zip file of special rollback firmware from above on your computer and rename it to nougat-rollback.zip.
  • Turn on the USB debugging:
    1. Head to your phone’s Settings » About phone » and tap “Build number” Seven times. Similarly, this will turn on the Developer options on your phone.
    2. Here open the Settings » Developer options » and tick the USB debugging check box.
  • Now here you have to connect your OnePlus 3/3T to your computer.
  • Open the folder where you have installed the Nougat rollback firmware’s .zip file. Simply then open a command window inside the folder. For doing this, perform a “Shift + Right click” on any empty white space inside the folder. Then choose the “Open command window here” from the context menu.
  • Here you have to run the command below to reboot your device into recovery mode:
 adb reboot recovery

Although now you have to check your phone’s screen. Whether it asks for “Allow USB debugging”, accept it by choosing OK/Yes.

  • Thus at a time in recovery mode, you must choose the “Install from USB” option. Similarly, then click on OK. You will view that“You are in sideload mode” displayed on the screen.
  • Now run the following command to at last start installing the Nougat rollback firmware on your OnePlus 3/3T:
adb sideload nougat-rollback.zip

Simply this will start downgrading your OP3/3T from Oreo to Nougat.

Beta 24 firmware

  • However, once the Open beta 24 firmware is installed. So then your device will be back on Android 7.0. Similarly, your phone will automatically reboot into the system. Whether not, so then you have to choose the reboot from the main menu of recovery.
  • Therefore, now you’re on beta software. So whether you desire to install a regular stable version of Nougat OS. And then you have to download the OxygenOS 4.5.1 and install it in the same way you installed the rollback firmware just above. Definitely rename it to something else, such as OxygenOS-4.5.1.zip, and use this name in the adb sideload command to install it.
